Heralds were first mentioned at the time of the First Crusade and became prominent from the late 12th Century. King Richard III in 1484 granted them a Charter of incorporation with a house in the City of London. Since this time, the Heralds have built up a unique history or armorial and family records. The tour will begin with the history of heraldry and the rτle of the Heralds, then an introduction to the architecture of the building, before seeing the Record Room, where we will view a selection of records dating back some 500 years. This will be followed with wine and supper. For visitors and guests, the College would like to remind that the nearest tube, Blackfriars (but not main line) is closed. However, the car park across the road is open 24 hours per day. They also stress that since the current College was built in the 17th century, it was without the disabled in mind and all access is via flights of stairs _______________________________________________________________ The charge for the event is £32.00 per head (which includes wine and supper). Bookings will be accepted on a first come basis. Numbers are very limited. Please complete and return the form below: Andrew Blackshaw, KLJ 2 Cloverleys Park Hill Loughton Essex, IG10 4EH .
